It’s time to ogle over another pretty perfect honeymoon destination. The Caribbean in general is one of our go-to areas for travel. Crystal clear waters, beautiful beaches and a stunning tropical landscape – what more do you want? The U.S. Virgin Islands checks every single one of these wishes off your list and more. For those who don’t know, The U.S. Virgin Islands is comprised of three very unique islands: St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John . This perfect combination of the islands, gives you the opportunity to have three times the experiences and three times the fun- a no-brainer for your honeymoon or destination wedding.  I have personally been to two of these lovely islands so you know you’re getting my strongest recommendation.

St. Thomas

My favorite of the three islands, St Thomas sits on 32 square miles of land surrounded by the prettiest blue seas that are PERFECT for snorkeling, sailing and other water sports. If you’re looking to mix some activity into your honeymoon, St. Thomas is the spot. It has the most shopping and nightlife of the three islands. After all that wedding planning, you and the hubby definitely deserve to kick back and paint the town red in style. From nights out around the city, to ice-cream dates at Udder Delite (a local fave), there’s enough to do on this beautiful island.

my hunk!

Last year for our anniversary, Olamide and I visited St. Thomas and let me tell you guys, it was AMAZING. It actually rivaled our honeymoon experience and you know that’s saying A LOT since our honeymoon was epic. We stayed at The Ritz Carlton in St Thomas, a luxury resort through and through. Everything we needed was within the four corners of the resort and we were spoiled rotten. I’d definitely recommend this resort for your one-stop shop, HOWEVER, I would recommend venturing out to enjoy more of the other islands as they all have SO much to offer. For one thing, cuisine is limited in the resort, so you want to check out the other restaurants especially on St. John and St. Croix.

St. John

St. John is just a quick 15-minute ferry ride from St. Thomas and is definitely the go-to spot for all the nature lovers out there. Fun fact: In 1956, Laurence Rockefeller guaranteed it would remain a “thing of joy forever” by purchasing a portion of the island and donating it to the National Park Service Now, two-thirds of St. John is protected beauty. This is the perfect spot for honeymooners looking for a relaxing, chill vibe where they can take in all the views. The Westin St. John Resort has villas that will make you feel like royalty, and another resort –Caneel Bay is a very popular favorite. Okay but where’s the best place to eat? (Always my top question). We stopped by Rhumb Lines on a whim after we weren’t really feeling our original place. Everything was delicious and so laid-back. The food was traditional Caribbean fare paired with some pacific-rim twists. Yummy!

St. Croix

Speaking of eating, St. Croix is the spot for my fellow foodies.  The culture and cuisine in the U.S. Virgin Islands are  a mix of Caribbean and European influences. La Reine Chicken Shack specializes in rotisserie chicken cooked over pure coal, which is basically pure heaven. St. Croix is the biggest of the three islands and you will see the rich cultural diversity of the island everywhere with tons of arts, crafts and music festivals. Any Bachelor fans in the house? (RIP Ben and Lauren) You’ll all def recognize The Buccaneer where Sean Lowe brought his ladies.  Be sure to check out the Terrace restaurant where you can get some classical cuisine with Caribbean accents, and maybe even the final rose 😉

Best of all? As a U.S. Territory, travel to the USVI does not require a passport for entry by U.S. citizens. This is a major bonus because after the unending paperwork that comes with weddings (save the dates, contracts and Thank You cards) the last thing you want to worry about is standing in line to update your passport. In fact, we think it’s time to plan another trip 🙂  For more information about the flavorful experiences that await you in U.S. Virgin Islands, visit www.visitusvi.com.
